An athlete’s development begins long before major stadiums, packed stands, and the spotlight of professional football. It starts at the academy—through daily training, conversations with coaches, repeated corrections, and, above all, matches that simulate real competitive situations. Within this context, VSAE’s Youth Academy Internal Tournaments have become one of the most important moments of the season.
The tournaments take place several times throughout the year and are part of the athletes’ official development calendar. Organized by age groups, they provide a structured environment where young players can experience competition in a healthy way, under the same emotional conditions found in official matches: pressure, quick decision-making, collective responsibility, and resilience.
More than a sporting event, the internal tournaments are treated as an educational tool—each match is accompanied by technical evaluations, tactical analysis, individual observations, and guidance directly aligned with each athlete’s development plan.
Here, we teach that competition is a form of learning. Every pass, every challenge, and every goal is part of a greater process.
In this edition, the energy in the environment was evident from the very first minutes. The athletes stepped onto the pitch with absolute focus, contesting every ball as if they were playing in front of thousands of fans. The technical staffs closely monitored player performance, assessing:
- Decision-making level under intense marking
- Ability to improvise during counterattacks
- Emotional maturity in adverse moments
- On-field leadership and communication during the match
- Technical and mental resilience after mistakes and successes
The matches delivered thrilling moments: unlikely comebacks, spectacular saves, set plays executed with precision, and moments of creativity that surprised even the most experienced coaches.
The crowd, made up of family members, brought extra energy, creating an atmosphere that was light, motivating, and at the same time competitive. This heightened the athletes’ sense of responsibility, as they learned to manage external expectations in a balanced way.
Building complete athletes, on and off the field
At the end of the tournament, each age group received detailed technical feedback and individual reports with observations on progress and areas for improvement.
These tournaments exist to prepare athletes for a future in football, but they also play a key role in shaping young individuals who can think strategically, work as a team, and face challenges with maturity.
The result is clear: the academy grows stronger, new talents emerge, and VSAE’s sporting identity becomes increasingly solid.
